Weather

Ah, the weather! Isn’t the climate one of the magnets that pulls us towards here?

With some 3,000 hours of sunshine spread over no less than 300 days a year and a year-average of somewhat over 18 0C (or 64.4 0F), Costa Almería is truly blessed.

Rain

Yes, it does rain here. But not all too often and not all that much - as the somewhat barren yet densely irrigated landscape reflects. The yearly average rarely exceeds 200 millimetres of rainfall. However, during the occasional thunder storm, as the saying goes, ‘if it rains, it pours’ – beware!

Even though the weather is pretty stable and predictable, it’s good to check for potential sudden changes, especially when you’re planning to be out on the water.

The generic, well known weather apps (AccuWeather, to mention just one) work just fine in Almería but why not get the hour-to-hour weather forecast from AEMET, the Spanish meteorological institute, itself? Their app offers a multi-day forecast for any location and an hourly forecast for the next 24 hours plus detailed information for the various beaches (height of the waves, water temperature, etc.). Only in Spanish but the symbols and numbers speak for themselves. Worth a try.

A severe sun burn due to the often very intense radiation during the summer season may spoil your vacation. Please do not forget to protect your skin.
